Travel Quote Tuesday | The Charm of Locality

“If every plant and flower were found in all places, the charm of locality would not exist. Everything varies, and that gives the interest.” ~ Richard Jefferies

In other words, what makes travelling so wonderful is that every place is different. The landscape and place, the very smell of the air, the people, culture and cuisine, the architecture, and of course the flora and fauna too.

What are the differences you most love to discover when travelling?

“If every plant and flower were found in all places, the charm of locality would not exist. Everything varies, and that gives the interest.” Richard Jefferies

This flower macro was taken in Abbotsbury Gardens, near Weymouth in Dorset.

It’s an obvious one, but for me it’s the cultural differences. I like to experience how other cultures eat, drink and behave. It makes traveling fun for me!

As I focus on chocolate travel, I’m always looking at the differences between the chocolate or cacao in any given region. But on a broader basis, I love to observe culinary differences in general.

This is totally what I love about travel. Everyplace is unique and different and I love introducing my kids to new cultures and food. Great quote, hits it perfectly.

This is definitely something to ponder about. The beauty of travel is discovering something new around every bend in the road. Each place has something which makes it unique. If this were not so and every place were like the other, the world would indeed be a boring place.

Love this quote as I too love diversity. If same things exist everywhere, then there is no charm to view them.

And there is something extra bittersweet about all the local “travel” we all are experiencing right now. Happy 11th birthday to your blog, and stay safe!
