Itβs kind of comforting to know that we are still travelling today for some of the same things as were popular in the time of Saint Augustine, who lived in the 4th and 5th centuries CE.
While we love city breaks and cultural travel, Pete and I also enjoy experiencing the natural landscapes (and seascapes) of the world, especially where we can see native flora and fauna as well.
In exploring and learning more about the rest of the world, I believe we learn more about ourselves, and we develop our minds and beliefs too.
Another from Antarctica, such a beautiful and pristine expanse.

what an amazing landscape Kavey. It must have been a truly amazing experience going to Antarctica. R
Thank you, yes two incredible trips, loved them both, would go back in a heartbeat.
I’ve never heard this quote before but it made me think this morning.
Thanks Ayngelina, glad you found it thought-provoking.
I can not even imagine how beautiful it must be in Antarctica… Lucky girl π

It was a magical experience, I loved it so much!
Beautiful quote, this is a first time reading it for me but I can totally see why it’s so inspiring. Antarctica is one of those places we have to see soon! It looks and sounds so breathtaking from what I have been seeing!
Glad you find the quote inspiring too. Yes, Antarctica is just magical.
It really is amazing how a quote from someone who lived and traveled so long ago could be so relevant today. I love that! It’s also one I’ve never heard before, and I’m now curious to read more about his thoughts. And, of course, that pic is gorgeous!
That’s what I felt, it really could have been written yesterday! Thanks for your kind comment about my picture!
I love this quote and how something so old still holds true today! I’ve never read this one before. I’m a nature-lover, so I’m all about seeing those natural sites. Mountains and canyons are my favorites. Plus, rock formations. I can’t get enough of those. It’s easy to tell I’m a land-dweller.
This one is definitely appropriate for you then! π
I’m impressed to hear a travel quote I haven’t come across yet – it really is incredible isn’t it, that travel and the need to explore, passion for discovery and new experiences is an intrinsic human trait which has been around since the very early ages.
I love collecting travel quotes, have been squirreling them away for many years. And yes, loved thinking that people had much the same thoughts so many hundreds of years ago.
So often, travel is about motion. But St Augustine’s quote reminds us to quiet ourselves and just experience nature.
Just so. And to look at ourselves with the same wonder with which we look at the world.
Yes people do travel around the world and sometimes fail to see the inner strengths and beauty and draw on those unique gifts and share it with the world
Haven’t heard this quote before, given so many fly around online that’s pretty amazing. I’m left curious about Saint Augestine, think I have some googling to do!
My pleasure to introduce you to it!
First time I see this quote, and I love it. So inspiring.
Glad you find it inspiring too.
Beautiful quote. I think St Augustine had very good perspective on human nature! It’s a great travel quote – much more insightful and inspiring than some of the others that I have seen around lately.
Yes, he seemed to have a great insight into what makes us tick, then and now!
Fantastic quote, and you are right. It is pretty impressive that we still travel for the same reasons over 1000 years later.
I guess some aspects of the human mind are timeless!
Antarctica. I cannot even fathom going there. π Beautiful quote and picture. Enjoy your trip, the trip of a lifetime!
One of our most wonderful trips!
Such an inspiring quote! Nature is such a beautiful and important reason to explore and to travel!
Thanks, I’m glad you found it inspiring too.
I find sitting by the ocean or resting by the side of a lake or mountain and just thinking give way to such creativity!
I couldn’t agree more with the quote. So true! Thanks for sharing! π
