Travel Quote Tuesday | Ray Bradbury

I asked in a previous week’s Travel Quote whether there’s a big overlap between those who love to travel and explore, and those who enjoy reading (or watching) science fiction. Taking joy in imagining places you haven’t been, what life might be like there, seems to me the common theme of both.

Ray Bradbury was an American author of fantasy, science fiction, horror and mystery fiction – I know him best through his science fiction titles. In this quote, Bradbury talks about how what he sees becomes a part of him and I know I’m not alone in identifying with his sentiment.

This is another image from my 2015 visit to Quebec, which I shared in several Canada travel posts. This is the impressive Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, as seen from the wide wooden boardwalk of Rue des Carrières.

I love this quote – I agree, I think the sum of our travel experiences culminate together to transform us into new people. You may not be able to pin new personality traits or attitudes to one travel experience (or you may), but slowly over time we change and evolve and open our minds 🙂

I think you are right about it. May be there isn’t much of a difference between the two set of people. Now the only thing that will set them apart is courage. Travelling requires a certain amount of courage, watching science fiction don’t!

I’m not a fan of sci fi, but I have just discovered the magic of Quebec City. I went years ago on a whim and walked around the old town and thought it was cute enough, but didn’t feel like I ever needed to go back. A few weeks ago I stopped in to see a friend and go to see the city through her eyes — she took me to her favorite spots and I totally fell in love with the city.

Bradbury is a favorite of mine. He was spot on with this quote to, our experiences become an integral part of our self.

What a great quote! I agree that my travel experiences have stayed with me and have become an essential part of who I am. It’s one of the reasons I’m so grateful to my parents for taking me camping and road tripping when I was very young, and why I fell lucky to be able to do it now as an adult.

It is so true. Travel enriches our lives. And these experiences make us who we are. My entire life has been shaped by travel and the places I have visited are engrained in me and live inside me.

I love this quote…it’s so true that our experiences make us us. And I’m trying to teach my children this concept too. Travel teaches us so much we can’t learn anywhere else.

What a powerful quote. I would never have expected that from Ray Bradbury! Your photo makes me want to go back to Le Chateau Frontenac. We haven’t been there in years and it’s so beautiful.

I have never heard that quote before and I love it. I have to admit that Ray Bradbury was not my favorite in high school, but he might be worth another look.
