Travel Quote Tuesday | Go Anywhere On Earth

“I always wonder why birds stay in the same place when they can go anywhere on earth. Then I ask myself the same question.” ~ Harun Yahya

I love this thought, the pondering of why, when we are so readily able to move, to travel, we stay in the same place.

Of course, it’s an easy question to answer; like many other animals, humans like to have a home territory, a place where they feel at home, know the terrain and where their family and/ or friends also live. We like to create a nest, a comfortable home where we feel safe and happy.

But humans also have a migratory instinct; certainly our ancestors migrated out of the African cradle of humanity to populate the rest of the world; and there are still migratory peoples today.

Does our urge to travel, for those of us who feel it, stem from those same migratory instincts, I wonder?

This is another image taken on one of our African safaris, one of our much-loved types of holiday. There’s something very special indeed about seeing the beauty of the wilderness and observing wildlife in their natural habitat.

I could totally relate to that. We all want to travel, but most of us don’t. It’s not just because of our profession, money or family; sometimes we just don’t. Period. Sometimes there’s nothing holding us back other than our will!

For me its not about migrating from one spot to another. For me its to awaken the senses and the need to explore. At the end of the day I will always have a home base. I am not nomadic by nature and wouldn’t find travelling full time agreeable. Travel gives me the sense of excitement and anticipation. Nice to always shave something to look forward to.

I wish I could travel more and so would a lot of us and these words can only inspire. Fir some it can be a way of life and accept the nomadic life but fir others it’s a way of getting away from the routine of life. I live to travel and these words are priceless. Thanks fir sharing.

Very interesting perspective on reflecting what makes people move or stay. It is true that stay-at-one-place and migratory instincts both co-exist in the same species – be it human or animal kingdom! I connect more with the later one as leading a nomadic life teaches you so much and makes you more open and aware. We figure how little do we know. And it does have its own challenges too which one must learn from! Its all about the choices we make.

I can totally relate to this. I actually left my cushy life back home in America and traveling in Asia for almost a year now.

It’s a great yet scary feeling to leave your comfort zone, but almost necessary in life! Thanks for sharing this

Oh yeah, I love this one! We are all free people, we could be anywhere we choose to be yet most of us choose the comfort of living in one place forever than the adventure of exploring new ones! I love traveling a lot but when it comes to changing my home base, I don’t want to frequently move from one place to another either. I can not imagine a nomadic lifestyle for myself, now that I am grown up. But I spent my childhood moving from one city to another, never lived in a place for more than 3 years!

I love this quote as well but never really stopped to ponder over it like you have. I never realized we are so similar to most animals who mark our territory of comfort. And then migrate to fulfill our needs and survive. Animals might do it for food and shelter while we migrate for better opportunities, more money, better education or some such reason leading to better food and shelter.

This totally reminds me of another quote saying how if we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots (like trees) instead of feet. I’ve never thought about how travelling stems from our nomadic/migratory instincts though, but I do think it’s the simplified version of it. With travelling, you don’t carry as much as if you were physically moving, but it does give you that ability to see new places and experience a different lifestyle.
