A Market Meander in Borough Market

I had such a lovely day one recent Friday.

Having arranged to meet a blogger friend for lunch at Polpo (whom I’d long known on twitter but never met) I thought it about time I popped down to collect a pile of magazines a friend in Borough Market had been saving for me for at least 3 months, so made a plan to visit Borough after lunch. And if I was going to be near Polpo it would be a good chance to pop into Bob Bob Ricard before lunch to drop off some home-made pickles I’d promised to chef James and owner Leonid. And if I was going to Borough market, wouldn’t it be nice to have a wonder around, pick up a few tasty items, snap a few photos… and then whilst I was wondering about enjoying the beautiful day, another blogger friend tapped me on the shoulder… and I ended up joining her at Monmouth Coffee to meet some more food blogger friends (oh, and bumped into another one wandering around too). After coffee made my way to collect those magazines and buy some tasty cheese. What a lovely food and people day!

The produce stall where I bought some rhubarb for Pete and some expensive figs for me. I had to explain to the bloke at the till why 80 pence each or 2 for £3 didn’t really make sense as that’d be £1.50 each. After he insisted it was correct, I asked whether he might possibly mean 3 for £2 and he finally clicked.

Look out for my restaurant review on Polpo, coming soon! 🙂

I love Borough Market, even if I'm not buying (a VERY rare occurrence) I like to wander round just breathing it all in. Particular faves are the butchers (GP & Farmer Sharp's), the bottle shop with all the cool beer, the turkish delight vendours and their numerous freebies, and the mighty fish stall. Wonderful stuff.
