Travel Quote Tuesday | My Favourite Luxury in Life is Travel

“One of my favorite luxuries in life is travel. Jet lag and lost baggage aside, it’s an incredible way to learn about other cultures, meet new people, broaden your horizons… and do some amazing shopping!” ~ Amanda Hearst

I’m actually not as much of a shopper as many of my friends. I don’t get a thrill from buying clothes, shoes or handbags and I don’t wear make up, so that rules out some of the popular categories. But I do love shopping for souvenirs on holiday, or browsing in second hand shops, especially those with lots of retro or vintage items.

My biggest spending indulgence is the travelling itself, the trips to explore another new place, culture and cuisine. Whether it’s a road trip, train journey or flight, the costs of travel, accommodation, food and experiences quickly add up. But the price is worth it for all the wonderful memories made. And I feel very fortunate to be in a position to be able to afford to travel, when so many people cannot.

Is travel one of your luxuries in life?

Whilst I’m not a huge fan of long-haul flying, I do love to look out of the window at the land or sea far below, or to watch the sun rise or set over the horizon.

I also am not the biggest shopper. I’d rather spend money like you said – on the traveling itself. My weaknesses are magnets and postcards, though. I do enjoy purchasing small items for my family members to ship home. It’s fun to share my adventures with them in a small gift way. 🙂

Love the quote as it resonates with my thoughts on traveling! Traveling is certainly a good way to meet people from all over the world, to learn about different cultures and to broaden one’s perspective of the world!! Happy traveling! 🙂

Interesting thoughts…travelling is for me mostly about discovering. Whenever I am planning new trips, so many things go already through my mind and I am excited about the new things to see, exploring new cultures and food and seeing new landscapes which I haven’t seen before. And then to collect the memories with my camera to keep them alive. It is like an ongoing journey with open end. The journey is the reward, that’s how I see it.

Travel is my way to learn about global culture. I’m not a huge shopper, although I do enjoy at least a bit of shopping time on every trip where I may get the chance to buy some local handcrafts. They make great gifts, and great reminders of wonderful times.

Travel is one of those things that I will never give up on. I do love shopping during my travels, especially for cute souvenirs and postcards. Travel leaves lasting memories, and is a great way to grow as a person and learn more about the world.

The quote resonates with me. I love travel for various reasons too – because it offers so many new experiences, allows one to meet locals and learn more about their lives, broadens one’s horizons and pushes one out of their comfort zone. I also love the shopping! 🙂

I’m trying to be more minimalist. I enjoy spending on experiences – like travel. The memories are more valuable.

I can so relate to your spending indulgences. I too do not enjoy shopping and save everything for travel. Each and every trip makes me feel more alive.

Oh my, I love this quote! You said you’re not a fan of long-haul travel. I historically haven’t been either…and I won’t say that I love it, but I’m growing to appreciate it more. Having in-seat power through the whole flight really helps 🙂

I love the destinations, but I never enjoy the journey. Even when we’ve splurged on business class, I still find it hard!

Nowadays the only thing that we really want to spend our money on is travel. That now we are infected by the travel bug, nothing else, shopping, movies, television, hold the same charm as travelling. We too do not indulge in much stopping excepting for the odd souvenir here and there,

So agree with this…though I can do without shopping. Just need a fridge magnet and the rest is all about the sights and experiences that the place offers. cheers

Shopping is fun but there is nothing like traveling. I can live without shopping for months but not without exploring a new place. Yes, we are lucky that we can afford. This is the best luxury that we are living.

I too do not like shopping, but do love to rummage through chachkie shops when I travel. Now when I travel I love to discover through my kids eyes. Great quote and it defines travel to me.

While reading the first paragraph, I could totally relate to it. It is like so ‘me’. Yes, travel happens to be one of the luxuries in life that we have chosen giving up other luxuries. And we are so happy about it. Someday, I would love to discuss and exchange travel stories with you.

Travel is often associated with luxury. For me to travel to new places, finding out new horizons matters me and for that, I sacrifice my love for shopping too.
