School of Wok & Dexam Giveaway

As I mentioned in my post about a recent special event cooking class I attended, the School of Wok has recently launched its own branded range of cookware, utensils and accessories created in partnership with Dexam. The range includes woks, steamers, cooking utensils as well as branded aprons and tea-towels.

Jeremy advocates classic carbon steel woks over non-stick – though there are a few non-stick in the range for those who prefer them. It’s worth learning how to care for a carbon steel wok properly – you’ll need to season the new wok before use and then clean as instructed to keep it in good condition.

And if you’re looking for a great recipe to test your wok skills, try the School of Wok’s Stir Fried Sichuan Chicken.

To celebrate the launch of the new range, I’m giving away one 13” (33cm) School of Wok ‘Wok & Roll’ Round Bottom Wok as well as a Steel Wok Ring. The round bottomed wok makes it superbly easy to quickly move your food around the wok for even cooking and the ring allows you to properly balance the wok on your stove top. The prize includes free delivery within the UK.

You can enter the giveaway in 2 ways – entering both ways increases your chances of winning:

It’s hard to choose, I cook a lot of Chinese food including some quite obscure things, but I think good old stir fried chicken with cashewnuts is a favourite, it’s so quick and easy, uses ingredients I always have to hand and I love the contrasting texture of the soft, tender chicken and crunchy nuts.

I love making Chinese Braised Beef, it’s easy fresh and so comforting.

My other favourite is chicken satay from scratch, beats a takeaway any day!!

Braised tofu in black bean and green pepper sauce – I love making tofu taste tasty!

I cook a few Chinese dishes but I think my personal favourite is a simple salt and pepper tofu, sometimes with chilli, sometimes with garlic, sometimes with both, depending on how I feel. Lovely with some just steamed bok choi.

My fave is good old Egg Fried Rice, using up lots of leftovers and served in bowls with prawn crackers and sweet chilli dipping sauce on the side. The kids absolutely love this easy and delicious meal, so it’s become a firm weeknight fave!

I make lemon chicken with egg fried rice – everyone loves the lemon sauce and it is quick and easy to do using chicken tenders

When I have time, I love making my own fresh sauces and marinades – hoisin, lemon, plum, black bean, sweet and sour. But my ultimate comfort food is a huge bowl of chew mein noodles with loads of veggies, tofu or tempeh, garlic, ginger and toasted nuts. Nom.

I like to make chicken and veggie noodles with a light soy sauce – simple and quick to make and we always have the ingredients to hand – it’s also pretty cheap and healthy which is important too
